Kentucky has not had good luck in the past year with weather. We had both a devastating wind storm and ice storm in the past 12 months and just yesterday we had record breaking rainfall. Much of Louisville was flooded-- including our metro animal shelter.

My sister used to work for Metro and when she realized how much flooding was happening she rushed out to help the evacuation effort. I'll link the 2 news articles I've found but basically they were overwhelmed and understaffed in this giant move. At least 10 kittens died and one dog. Now they've begun the task of re-identifying the animals and cleaning up the shelter. If you can any money that you can donate to our shelter, please do. This was a tragedy that no one expected-- we're normally in a drought this time of year!

The damage is quoted at about a million dollars but no one knows for sure yet.

So I've had writers block so I decided to play a game with myself. I put my phone of shuffle and wrote little drabbles for the first 6 songs that I heard. These are not really connected but they can be if that's how you want to read them. It's totally up to you.

Ok, so this is quite a long story but I'll try to keep it short.

On Mother's Day my father came into O'Charleys and had breakfast. His total was $6.88 and when he left the tip it looked like he left 10 dollars. This is normal from parents. I've never seen anyone's parents come in and leave less than 10 dollars. So fast forward until yesterday when I have a voicemail from my father that says that O'Charleys over charged him $6.88 and that he was going to go up there and talk to someone about it.

I called him back and was like what are you talking about. Your check was %6.88 and you left me 10 dollars. And he told me that he did not leave me 10 dollars--he was rounding up to 10 dollars. Meaning my own father only wanted to leave me $3.12. I told him if it was that important to him I would give him $6.88.

So today I'm at work and I get a text saying "I am leaving Monday morning. When will I get the $?" (He's going to Tunica and is going to stay in a casino.) I texted him back incredulously. I asked him if 7 dollars was really that important to him and told him that I'd be at work all day. He responded with "Yes it is important. You saw the receipt before you sent it. Why would I give a ten dollar tip for a seven dollar meal? I am also upset about the 80 dollars."

To explain the 80 dollars I have to back up again. When I wrecked my car I called him for help. We needed someone to tow the car and when he called the tow place I tried to give him my debit card. He refused it and said he would pay for it because I'm his daughter. Later on Melissa's mom said that we may be able to claim the tow fee and get it back. He said that he didn't need it, he was just trying to help.

Fast-forward back to now and he's asking for it. his tow fee was not claimed because he said he didn't need it. We had to tow the car a second time and mom claimed that instead. Anyway, there only would have been 50 dollars returned since that is the max tow fee return.

Right now this just looks like he's being a tight ass. Here's the real clencher though. He gives my sister money. He just paid 150 dollars out of pocket so that she could get her depo shot. That shot is not necessary and according to her she had offered not to get it until we have insurance again. He paid for it so that she'd stop bitching about cramps. This is not the only time he's given her money. He gave her 300 dollars for her first car, mom gave her 300 dollars to help with her bills and just recently he gave her 2,600 to pay off her credit cards! I'm in debt too! I'm in college! I have to buy books and all that fun shit and he doesn't help me one bit! He hasn't bought me a thing since I got my own job when I was 17.

I'm done. He talks about me to my sister behind my back, asking her things like "Do you think she took my 7 dollars on purpose?" and "Do you think she's going to leave me with her college loan bills?" (which are in his name and I totally could.) I'm sick of his bullshit. He makes me feel like I'm not important to him. Ever since I was little, Amber has been the favorite. She gets better grades, she's prettier and she can get anything she wants. I'm left with whatever is lying around when they're done. I'm not talking to him anymore. he can take his money and choke on it--I'm out.

EDIT: When I came home I sat down next to Melissa's mom and said this.
Me: Mama, looks like you're the only parent I have left.
Mom: I thought I already was.
;) She loves me at least.

So, I wrecked my car today. Wait. I wrecked Melissa's first car-- the one her mother bought her. Let me tell you what happened.

I was on my way to school and I was getting onto the Gene Snyder. For those of you who have never been on this ramp, it is big and curvy and it has grates in it to run water off. These grates bump your car and typically makes my cd player skip. Well I hit one today at about 45-50 MPH which is normal for me but today it was a little wet out and after I hit the grate-- suddenly my wheel felt loose.

I was like nothing I'd ever felt before. My car hydroplanes sometimes but not like this. I totally lost control. I tried to hold the wheel straight like you're supposed to but after I hit the concrete wall on my left side I jerked the wheel and I spun around into the other lane and crashed into the other concrete wall. I hit all along the drivers side and I hit my head on the window. My hip is bruised and my arm will be. Apparently giant bruises take a while to show up.

My car might be totaled. We're not sure yet but the tow truck guy was the most worried about my back driver wheel. It was bent outwards and he said that alone might make it be considered totaled. I hope not.

The big thing about this was that I thought I was going to die. Seriously. My accident was almost exactly like Olivia's and if there had been a car in the other lane than I would be. The only thing that saved me this morning was the lack of traffic.

After I realized what was happening I had several thoughts. First was the realization that I was going to crash. Then I had the fleeting thought that Melissa was gonna be mad at me. Then I worried about not seeing her or anyone else I loved ever again because I was positive that I was going to die. I hit fucking hard man.

After it was all over my question about car accidents was answered. Does your radio come back on after the crash? The answer is yes. After everything stopped my cd skipped then started back up again. The only thing I said was a sobbed "ow!" then I realized that my glasses were gone. I found them in the passenger seat. I was facing the on-coming traffic so I waited until it was clear and then I restarted my car and moved it off the ramp. I probably shouldn't have driven it because it was very wobbly but there was no way the tow truck would have been able to fit on the ramp. I pulled over into the shoulder and immediately started crying and I called my daddy. I wanted Melissa but she was in Jury Duty.

Daddy came and got me from the highway and took me home. He called the police and a tow truck for me. I'm so thankful he was there for me. I texted the whole thing to Melissa, who has been very good about it. I wrecked her car but she is just happy that I'm ok. After getting home and everything my Jessta came over to give me lovins then Melissa came home. They didn't let me go to sleep and took me to eat chicken fingers since that's what I wanted. I finally took a nap and now I feel better.

I'm just glad I'm alive. I kept having like fragmented memories of thoughts I had during and after the wreck and I remember thinking about my Scouty and being glad I'll be able to see her again. I just want to be with Melissa and our children and the rest of our family.



I know it's not much but that's my hip. It's quite painful and tender. My arm isn't showing yet but it hurts really bad. I'll have pictures of my car soon.
